INVISTA’s CORDURA® brand and Burlington unveil new durable wool collection at Summer Outdoor Retailer 2014
Woven constructions form cornerstone of new CORDURA® Combat Wool™ collection
INVISTA’s CORDURA® brand team and Burlington are pleased to announce the debut of their innovative new line of CORDURA® Wool fabrics. Marketed as part of the brand’s new CORDURA® Combat Wool™ fabric collection, the comfortably durable fabric portfolio is available in twill, canvas, ripstop, dobby and stretch constructions and will be on display at the Summer Outdoor Retailer show August 6-9 in Salt Lake City, Utah (CORDURA® brand Booth #39213 and Burlington Booth #MR150A).
The woven CORDURA® Combat Wool™ fabrics from Burlington were developed to meet the growing consumer need for stylish, durable and functional garments and are targeted at a variety of all-season end uses including outdoor, workwear, ready-to-wear and lifestyle applications. “Consumers are looking for multi-functional clothing they can wear hiking one day and out to dinner the next,” said Tom Aubrey, Burlington product development manager. “The combination of natural Merino wool fibers and INVISTA nylon 6,6 staple fiber has allowed us to develop a product with the comfort and durability of wool and the enhanced performance of nylon, perfect for transitional garments.”
Constructed with an intimate blend of Merino wool and staple nylon, the new family of woven CORDURA® Combat Wool™ fabrics provide a significant performance advantage without sacrificing the natural aesthetic or insulation qualities of 100% Merino wool fabrics. According to independent lab testing, woven CORDURA® Combat Wool™ fabric also provides twice the tensile strength, 1.4 times the tear strength, and more than ten times the abrasion resistance of 100% Merino wool fabrics. Burlington has developed a collection that includes shirting, bottom and jacket weight fabrics appropriate for a wide range of garments.
“Burlington really understands the growing consumer need for pieces appropriate for both lifestyle and outdoor wear,” says Cindy McNaull, global CORDURA® brand and marketing director. “We were pleased to collaborate with them to engineer cutting-edge woven CORDURA® Combat Wool™ fabrics that help us take on life’s battles -comfortably, durably, and stylishly. Fashion and function go hand in hand with this new portfolio, and we were honored to work with such a leader in textile technologies to develop our new high performance woven Merino wool CORDURA® fabric collection.”
