INVISTA Waynesboro South River Clean-Up
Initiative to be held the morning of Saturday, April 14
INVISTA will again clean-up the banks of the South River from Wayne Avenue to Main Street on Saturday, April 14th, from 9 a.m. to noon. This cleanup is being held in conjunction with the Twenty-Fourth Annual Potomac Watershed Cleanup.
“There are almost 100 sites participating in parks and neighborhoods along the Potomac River and its tributaries in this coordinated cleanup event this weekend,” said Brenda Kennell, INVISTA’s environmental specialist and site coordinator. “As the South River is a tributary to the Potomac River, and ultimately, the Chesapeake Bay, maintaining the South River helps improve the health and vitality of the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay.”
“At INVISTA, we feel it is important to be good stewards of the environment,” said Kennell. “We are asking volunteers to meet at the back parking lot of the YMCA at 9:00 a.m. on the 14th.”
“While this is the INVISTA Waynesboro site’s 18th consecutive year participating in this important community clean-up event, it is my first as Waynesboro site manager,“ said Stuart Carter. “I am excited about the event and our company giving back to the community in which we operate.”
In addition, INVISTA’s Waynesboro site was recertified in December 2011 (and has been certified since 1992) from the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) for establishing property for corporate habitat enhancement and received the Corporate Wildlife Habitat Certification/International Accreditation Program Certificate. INVISTA also maintains a successful eastern bluebird monitoring program and hosts an annual household waste collection day for the community.
