TERATE® Polyols

INVISTA's TERATE® polyols are aromatic polyester polyols used in polyisocyanurate (PIR) and polyurethane (PUR) foams, as well as a variety of CASE (Cast, Adhesive, Sealant and Elastomer) applications. Typical end-uses include:

  • Rigid polyurethane foam systems for appliance, bun stock, roof and wall boardstock, spray foams and insulated composite sandwich panel applications
  • Polyurethane coatings: polymer binders and resin systems

TERATE® polyols posses an inherent flammability advantage. When used in rigid polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams, TERATE® polyols deliver excellent char formation, minimal foam shrinkage and high weight retention. The unique aromatic structure of TERATE® polyols substantially reduces the need for flame retardants in addition to affording the opportunity to lower overall chemical costs.

The unique molecular structure of TERATE® polyols provides industry-leading structural integrity and insulating properties, such as:

  • Excellent rigid foam dimensional stability
  • Low board densities
  • Compressive strength
  • Low chemical usage
  • Low index
  • Low shrinkage
  • Low smoke generation

Market demands create challenges for foam formulators. INVISTA professionals work proactively with customers and co-suppliers to develop customized formulations. TERATE® polyols have been reformulated for optimal performance with the next generation blowing agents and are available in a wide range of optimized formulations to meet the most demanding requirements.
