INVISTA volunteers enlighten Foshan neighborhood
Employee volunteers from INVISTA’s Foshan site installed energy-saving lighting today in Shihuzhou village, Foshan, in conjunction with International Volunteer Day. The activity also included an interactive session with the community residents to highlight energy conservation best practices.
“INVISTA is one of the world’s largest integrated producers of chemical intermediates, polymers and fibers, and Foshan is an important manufacturing base for us,” said Beck Choon Hueei, Foshan site manager, at the opening ceremony. “As one of the major international enterprises in Foshan, we are pleased to support the development of the community.”
INVISTA’s Foshan site produces high-quality spandex for INVISTA’s Apparel and Advanced Textiles business.
Julien Born, INVISTA’s eastern region executive vice president, Apparel and Advanced Textiles, said, “This volunteer effort is another important initiative as part of INVISTA Apparel’s Planet Agenda, our commitment to developing technologies and materials that will minimize the environmental footprint of fibers and enhancing the performance of fabrics while safeguarding the health and safety of employees and communities.”
Born attributes LYCRA® fiber growth in the region over the last few years to Planet Agenda as leading global brands and retailers in the apparel textile industry increasingly look for strategic, environmentally conscious, and reliable suppliers. He added, “When we combine Planet Agenda with our unique capabilities in terms of operating excellence, innovation and marketing, we feel we are well positioned to best serve customers and help them grow profitably in a fast-changing and increasingly competitive environment.”
These volunteer day activities are part of the Foshan site’s ongoing commitment to environmental, health and safety excellence. In April, the Foshan site received recognition for its energy saving projects in the Foshan 2015 Economic Science and Technology Development Energy Saving Plan. And in August, the Foshan site was recognized as the “Environmental Excellence Enterprise” for its outstanding achievements in clean production, energy efficiency and resource utilization.
