Innovation Continues as INVISTA Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of ANTRON LUMENA® Solution Dyed Nylon

INVISTA, the maker of Antron® carpet fiber, is kicking off the 20th anniversary celebration of Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon with a birthday party at NeoCon.  NeoCon attendees are invited to celebrate with colorful cocktails and cake lollipops on Monday, June 13 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. in the Antron® Brand Showroom, Merchandise Mart space 10-111.  The birthday celebrates INVISTA’s continued innovation of solution dyed nylon with a new denier, expanded colors and lusters and capacity investments.

“Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon was originally launched as a ‘work horse’ fiber,” said Diane O’Sullivan, global marketing director for INVISTA commercial flooring. “It received immediate accolades for its performance, due in part to its Type 6,6 nylon construction, in demanding environments. Over the past 20 years, the original 22 colors in the line have increased to more than 200 color offerings, becoming an innovative design option for commercial carpet.”

To further enhance the product offering, INVISTA is introducing a 900-denier family of Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon to support new tufting technology advances and offer expanded styling and aesthetic opportunities for design. The smaller denier fiber will be available in new colors representing new color spaces, each with a light, medium and deep value.

In addition to a new solution dyed denier offering, INVISTA has announced a capital project expansion designed to increase capacity and evolve the Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon with TruBlend™ fiber technology offering. TruBlend™ fiber technology was introduced in 2010, and offers an evolving blend of pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content. The increased capacity will allow INVISTA to evolve TruBlend™ fiber technology to be a primary polymer platform for Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon over time.

Also at NeoCon, INVISTA will introduce additional colors and lusters in solution dyed nylon with new Antron® Glimmer™ accent fibers. The new solution dyed accents join the original Antron Glimmer™ accent fibers, Gold and Silver.

“We will continue to innovate our solution dyed offering with new sustainable attributes and aesthetics in the future,” said O’Sullivan.

Following NeoCon, Antron® Fiber Consultants will host birthday parties at architecture and interior design firms across the country, and attendees will be eligible to receive a limited-edition commemorative 20th anniversary bag.

The Historical Perspective

Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon was originally launched as Antron® solution dyed nylon (ASDN) in 1987.  The fiber was branded Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon in 1991 and officially launched at Westweek in Los Angeles with 22 colors.  “Antron® Brand Man” was a superhero used to promote Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon, and he had stain fighting powers.

The first mills to launch carpets made with Antron® solution dyed fiber were Bentley Mills, now known as Bentley Prince Street, in styles “Highlander” and “West End,” and styles by Harbinger, now known as Masland, including “Investor,” “Exchange” and “Dividend.”
