INVISTA showcases innovation and commitment to China’s carpet market at Asia’s largest flooring trade show – DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2014 Exhibition
Global pioneer demonstrates the potential of its most exciting products, including Antron® carpet fiber, Wisha™ carpet fiber and Stainward™ carpet.
INVISTA, the global textile industry pioneer, has showcased its long-term commitment to the China market, as well as its strength and technology leadership in the carpet industry, by demonstrating some of its most innovative products at Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR 2014 Exhibition in Shanghai. It demonstrated the potential of its most exciting products, including Antron® carpet fiber, Wisha™ carpet fiber and Stainward™ carpet.
INVISTA is one of the world's largest integrated producers of chemical intermediates, polymers and fibers and a major player in China's commercial carpet fiber sector. Its unique booth, designed in the shape of a tangram, featured advanced carpet technology cut in an intricate geometric pattern. The combination of innovative ideas and attractive appearance provided visitors with an intuitive appreciation of the attributes of different products from a variety of mill partners, including Tuntex Carpet and Voxflor.
INVISTA is very positive about the potential of the China market. This year marks the sixth time its Performance Surfaces Business has participated in Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR Exhibition, which has become the largest international flooring trade show in the Asia-Pacific region and the second largest in the world.
INVISTA demonstrated its legendary Antron® commercial carpet fiber, which is used in premium quality carpets for corporate office, healthcare, retail and public space applications. Made from INVISTA’s type 6,6 nylon, carpets made from Antron® carpet fiber offer up to 2.5 times better texture retention1 than the majority of competitive nylon carpets and are resistant to crushing and matting. The hollow filament fiber shape enhances soil hiding. Coupled with DuraTech® soil resistance treatment, which is heat bonded during carpet manufacture and remains on the carpet for one million foot traffics, Antron® nylon provides exceptional soil resistance in high-traffic environments.
Also on show was Wisha™ fiber, a new brand of polyester fiber, which was unveiled in November 2013 by INVISTA China. It raises the bar in carpet flammability performance compared to polypropylene fiber and is INVISTA’s newest value carpet fiber. Carpets made from Wisha™ fiber have very good flammability performance, substantially surpassing the standards required for commercial office buildings in both China and the United States. Wisha™ fiber resists most common food and drink stains compared to carpets made from type 6 nylon, which make them easier to clean. Designed for interior/office spaces, Wisha™ fiber is also INVISTA’s most affordable fiber.
The other product at DOMOTEX asia this year was INVISTA’s new Stainward™ carpet, which offers improved carpet flammability performance compared to carpet made of polypropylene fiber2. Stainward™ carpet offers outstanding resistance to most common food and drink stains compared to carpets made with type 6 nylon, and that helps keep hotel rooms looking clean. Stainward™ carpet is designed for hotel rooms.
“INVISTA is committed to providing manufacturers with the innovative ideas and latest technologies they need in order to create fantastic products which customers in China really want. That means launching new products in response to the demands of China consumers for more affordable, high quality carpet fibers and carpets, such as Wisha™ carpet fiber and Stainward™ carpet,” said Ariel Felice, Vice President of INVISTA’s Asia Pacific Surfaces business.
“Having invested in China for decades, we intend to increase that commitment going forward, while also fine-tuning our offering and launching new products to meet the demands of end-users,” said Felice.
Along with investments in fiber R&D, INVISTA is opening a state-of-the-art carpet technology research and testing laboratory at its Qingpu plant in Shanghai. The new facility is a first for INVISTA Surfaces business in Asia Pacific, specializing in end-use application and brand certification testing for the carpet industry.
“The China market is one of the major engines of growth for INVISTA and strategically critical, both as a market and as a production base. We will continue to seek opportunities to serve the growing needs of Chinese and other Asia Pacific customers by creating innovation at every stage of the fiber and surfaces value chain,” he said.
