LYCRA HyFit™ and BTSR Innovations Offer Productivity and Efficiency to the Disposal Diapers Industry
New technologies will be presented at NT&TT tradeshow taking place from October 26th to 28th at Expo Center Norte, in Sao Paulo
INVISTA, which offers spandex yarn branded as LYCRA HyFit™ fiber for use in disposable diapers, will present its product at the 4th Edition of the International Exhibition of Nonwoven and Technical Textiles, NT&TT tradeshow, from October 26-28. Working together with the company BTSR, a line of creels with OETO (Over End Take Off) technology, called the “Matrix Cube”, will also be on display at the INVISTA stand. The creel technology allows for the automatic change of the yarn, without stopping the machine, and double loop control system. Another innovation will be the Transfer Tail system, which is a new way of unwinding LYCRA HyFit™ fiber that improves quality in the transfer of the fibers when using OETO system.
The BTSR creel, in addition to providing the automatic change of yarns, also offers a better tension control, contributing to the quality in the customer product and reduction of losses in the customer process. "Unlike current machines, this new system has a device with double loop control system, controlling the fiber tension in the unwinding and also in the diaper application, which may provide greater stability and reduce the number of breaks," says Mr. Tiziano Barea, BTSR president.
Another important point related to quality and yield for the disposable diapers industry is that this equipment can stop the diaper machine before a yarn break. This benefit can provide a better process stability and avoid that the break impact on other issues and more downtime.
However, even with such modern equipment like BTSR creels, disposable diapers manufacturers would not get good results if the unwinding process was not changed. "That’s why we developed Transfer Tail system, which is a new way of winding the yarn in order to enable the automatic change of the rolls, with a higher quality of transfer”, says Jorge Mazzaferro, Personal Care Business Director of INVISTA for Central and South America.

LYCRA HyFit™ fiber is used along with other raw materials in the manufacturing process of disposable diapers, specifically applied where requires adjustment to the body, such as legs and waist. When used for this purpose, LYCRA HyFit™ fiber provides better comfort for babies and adults, also increasing productivity in the personal care and hygiene disposable diapers industry compared to rubber due to its higher unload force and higher draft capability for decitex (relationship between weight and length). It results in less elastic required per unit, minimizes breaks in the customer process, increase yield and of course, reduces manufacturing cost.
