INVISTA’s COOLMAX® Fabric Awarded “The Hit Product” at 42nd Senken Synthetic Awards Presentation Ceremony Today in Tokyo
INVISTA, a world leader in integrated fibers and polymers business, won an award at the 42nd Senken Synthetic Awards ceremony in Japan today, with its moisture-wicking and quick-drying COOLMAX® fabric being presented the Hit Product Award. The ceremony was held at the Royal Park Hotel in the Nihonbashi district of Tokyo.
The Senken Synthetic Awards is held by the Senken Shimbun and awards excellence in technological development, materials and marketing efforts in the synthetic fibers/fabrics industry. The Hit Product Award honors highly regarded materials in a given year and a long history of strong sales.
Cool and comfortable business look is a staying trend and became more essential in Japan when air-conditioner use was minimized in the aftermath of the 2011 great earthquake and nuclear plant crisis. COOLMAX® fabric was adopted by many garment brands to meet consumer interest in wearing cooler clothes in hot temperature conditions in order to save on energy cost. Many garments are identified with the COOLMAX® fabric hangtag at retail stores, which communicates to consumers the exceptional cool and dry wearing comfort of the garments made with COOLMAX® fabric. In recognition of its success in bringing a critical solution to consumers in this energy conscious period the Senken Synthetic Awards judging panels granted the 2011 Hit Product Award to COOLMAX® fabric.
Daniel J Kotkin, Executive Vice President of INVISTA Apparel, Eastern Region, remarked at the awards ceremony, “Since the launch in 1986, COOLMAX® fabric has played a major role in the world of sports. It is now evolved to be used in a wide range of casual wear as well as business wear. INVISTA is proud to provide the industry with such a remarkable performance material and we cherish its success in the Japanese market, which is an innovative and influential lead country in terms of fashion and performance textiles in the Eastern Region and beyond.”
About the Senken Synthetic Awards
With the hope of the continued development of the synthetic fiber/fabric industry, the Senken Synthetic Awards were established in 1970 to showcase excellence in technological development, materials and creative marketing efforts. The 42nd annual awards ceremony was held in 2012.
The selection process
Eligible entries include materials recommended by synthetics and textile converters, journalists, surveys about women’s wear, innerwear, sports apparel and wholesale fabrics, and specialists. Eleven Senken Shimbun journalists gather information from reporting efforts and surveys to judge entries based on the three areas of innovation, newsworthiness and sales, also gauging a product’s potential and its contribution to the industry. The judging is a four step process in which pros and cons are weighed in the final stage and winners are selected by a majority vote.
