INVISTA Intermediates

INVISTA´s specialty intermediates family of "idea intermediates" are used in a variety of applications as both building blocks and specialty intermediates. As building blocks, these offerings deliver value as the "backbone" in applications such as polyamides, polyesters, polyurethanes, plasticizers and coatings. As specialty intermediates, the unique properties of our Intermediates family of offerings provide value-adding solutions for customers in a variety of applications. 

INVISTA Intermediates includes our trademarks and brands such as Terate® polyols, Terathane® PTMEG, Dytek® Amines, Nitriles and Boron-based products, DBE™ Dibasic Esters, DBA™ Dibasic Acid, C12™ Products and Adi-pure® adipic acid.

INVISTA offers a diverse portfolio of aromatic polyester polyols sold under the Terate® brand. Terate® polyols are used in a variety of applications including polyurethane (PUR) and polyisocyanurate (PIR) foams, as well as in coatings, adhesives and elastomers. Terate® polyols are available in a wide range of functionalities, hydroxyl levels and viscosities which allow you to engineer specific properties into your products to meet demanding customer and regulatory requirements. Typical end uses for Terate® polyols include rigid PUR and PIR foams (insulation, flotation and void-fill), as well as polyurethane coatings, adhesives, elastomers and sealants.

Intermediates Powder

Terathane® PTMEG is a premium polyether glycol and is used as a soft-segment building block in high performance polyurethanes, polyesters and other polymers. It is available in a wide range of molecular weights (from 250 up to 2900) and provides outstanding dynamic properties, low temperature flexibility, resistance to microbes and hydrolytic stability. Typical end uses for Terathane® PTMEG include spandex fibers such as LYCRA®, solid elastomers (skate wheels, belts, and rollers), flexible adhesives and coatings.

DYTEK® idea intermediates are multifunctional amine, nitrile, and boron-based solutions that inspire new ideas because of the unique possibilities that our products can bring to solve the toughest synthesis challenge. Application areas include pharmaceutical (building blocks, reagents, bioactives and lewis acids), construction (epoxy curing agents and asphalt liquid anti-strips), lubricants (fuel additives and corrosion inhibitors), coatings (anti-fouling agents, epoxy curing agents and chain extenders/intermediates) and water treatment.

INVISTA® DBE dibasic ester solvents combine excellent solvency power with a wide range of properties. DBE dibasic esters are non-flammable, readily biodegradable, non-corrosive and have a mild, fruity odor. The DBE dibasic esters can function as solvents, ingredients and chemical intermediates. Typical applications include paints and coatings, plasticizers, industrial, institutional and consumer cleaning products, polyols, pigments, paint stripping and paint removal, wet strength paper resins, foundry core binder, soil stabilization or chemical grouting, oilfield chemicals, crop protection, and adhesives.

INVISTA® DBA dibasic acid is an organic acid that can dramatically improve SO2 scrubbing efficiency for flue gas desulfurization in coal-fired power plants.  INVISTA® DBA dibasic acid can improve scrubbing efficiency, reduce the purchases of emission allowances, generate a new revenue stream through selling excess allowances, reduce the energy consumption and facilitate a flexible fuel strategy at the power utility.

Intermediates Liquids

INVISTA® C12 high performance intermediates provides a full range of 12 carbon cyclic and linear molecules. C12 products, such as dodecanedioic acid (DDDA), Corfree® M1, cyclododecanone (CDDK), cyclododecanol (CDDA) and cyclododecatriene (CDDT), serve in demanding segments such as coatings, resins, lubricants, fragrances, adhesives and corrosion inhibition.

INVISTA Adi-pure® high-purity adipic acid (hexanedioic acid) is a crystalline, white powder that exhibits typical carboxylic acid chemistry suitable for a wide variety of applications. The high purity, excellent uniformity, and consistent end-use performance of Adi-pure® makes it a valuable intermediate in a wide range of applications, including as a monomer in nylon, paper additives, copolyamides, terpolymers and unsaturated polyester resins (UPRS), in polymer additives for epoxy curing agents and plasticizers: as a chemical intermediates in the synthesis of esters, polyesters, polyols and in many other applications such as solvents, lubricants, electronics, soil conditioners, flue gas desulfurization scrubbers and cleaning aids.
