INVISTA partners with local school to promote environmental education
INVISTA hosted an environmental activity day at Qingpu Xianghuaqiao Primary School as part of its “Qingpu Good Neighbor” community program. INVISTA volunteers and teachers from Xianghuaqiao Primary School used games, crafts and discussion to help students learn about the role of innovation in reducing waste and protecting the environment. Officials from the Shanghai Qingpu Industry Park and Xianghuaqiao Community Office also attended.
Launched in 2012, “Qingpu Good Neighbor” is a community program sponsored by INVISTA’s sites in Qingpu District. The program targets local community residents, including students, children of migrant workers, and the elderly, providing them with educational activities regarding the environment, safety and health.
“As one of the major international enterprises in Qingpu District, we are pleased to work with Xianghuaqiao Primary School to enhance the Xianghuaqiao community and help build a harmonious society in Qingpu,” said Brian Zhang, site manager of INVISTA’s Qingpu air bag fiber facility.
INVISTA pursues its sustainability vision through its commitment to environmental, health and safety excellence; supporting effective local stewardship initiatives; and encouraging employee involvement in causes that enhance the quality of life in the community.
INVISTA is one of the world’s largest integrated producers of chemical intermediates, polymers and fibers. In 2013, INVISTA doubled the capacity of its air bag fiber manufacturing plant in the Qingpu District, which is an important manufacturing and R&D base for the company.
