Open Day at INVISTA’s Polyester Plant Attracts Local Tourists and Public Officials
The Industry Park in Gersthofen opened its doors to more than 3,000 visitors on July 9 as part of its annual Open Day, which invites the public to look inside the chemical production plants and learn how chemistry transforms their daily lives. INVISTA—one of the companies that operates in the park—welcomed visitors inside its polymer and resins production plant and exhibition tent.
INVISTA employees led tours of the manufacturing plant and showed visitors examples of products that utilize polyester and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), two of INVISTA’s primary products. Visitors learned how many items used in everyday life contain polyester and DMT, such as oxygen-sensitive product containers, packaging films, tires, solar-panels, air filters, and automotive textile products. Visitors were impressed by the complexity of the manufacturing equipment, particularly the bottle-blowing installation.
Among the INVISTA plant visitors were Mayor Jürgen Schantin and County Councillor Martin Sailer, who stopped by to learn more about INVISTA’s products and the latest economical and employment developments. “They were very pleased to hear that we hired 30 employees since early 2010,” said Ottmar Schmidt, site manager of INVISTA Resins & Fibers GmbH.
The annual Open Day at the industrial park was coordinated by the public affairs department of Industry Park in Gersthofen together with the support of INVISTA’s organizational team.
