Excellent Resins for many applications

INVISTA's Packaging Resins business serves the world's fastest growing polyester market. Our diverse portfolio of products includes polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins for carbonated soft drink, (CSD) water, beer, juice, food and custom container applications.

Containers made from INVISTA PET resins are light weight, have excellent clarity and are shatter-proof. With the important advantage of being totally recyclable, INVISTA PET is the packaging resin of choice.

RESIN 1101
INVISTA 1101 resin offers excellent performance in maximum throughput, stretch-blow molding applications. The resin produces clear, strong bottles with good stability in injection processing. Preforms made from the 1101 resin allow maximum blowing throughputs by quickly heating in infrared (IR) ovens. In addition, the resin is very low-stick, drastically easing handling issues with these lightweight, highly oriented bottle applications. INVISTA also offers 1101R, a blend of 1101 and post-consumer recycled PET. INVISTA 1101 and 1101R are successfully used in CSD bottles and other stretch-blow molded applications.

RESIN 2201
INVISTA 2201 resin offers superior performance in high-temperature applications and withstands hot-filling and pasteurizing processes better than standard resins. In beer bottles, this stability allows for tunnel pasteurization of beer directly in the packaging, as is currently done with glass bottles. In heat-set applications, the resin's improved characteristics result in higher hot fill temperatures, improved production consistency, and more storage flexibility than traditional hot fill applications.

RESIN 3300/3301
INVISTA 3300/3301 resin is designed especially for water applications. The resin recipe and production processes are optimized specifically to reduce acetaldehyde regeneration. The resin also processes at low extruder temperatures and with low shear rates. The resin produces clear bottles with good strength characteristics.INVISTA 3300 is available in Europe, while 3301 is available in North America.

RESIN 3302
INVISTA 3302 resin offers good performance in carbonated water and in specialty containers. The resin recipe and production processes are optimized to reduce acetaldehyde regeneration for water applications, but the slightly higher IV offers the higher strength characteristics recommended for carbonated waters. INVISTA 3302 provides the perfect balance of clarity, strength, and easy processing for custom containers. This resin also performs well in integrated injection-blow molding machines.

RESIN T-94
INVISTA T-94 resin is designed especially for slow crystallization applications. This resin formulation provides excellent clarity in thick-walled preforms and produces lightweight and shatter-resistant containers. Resin T-94 PET is currently used in refillable bottles, including 5-gallon (19-L) water carafes. The slow crystallization behavior allows numerous wash cycles per container.

POLYSHIELD™ - Resin 2300
PolyShield™, a new PET resin from INVISTA that is currently available in selected markets, provides outstanding oxygen scavenging and excellent passive gas barrier to monolayer containers when blended with MXD6 at the injection machine.

Combining improved barrier performance with exceptional clarity makes PolyShield™ monolayer bottles an ideal candidate for packaging most oxygen-sensitive food and beverages such as beer, juice, ketchup and milk.

PolyShield™ monolayer technology allows pre-forms to be produced on standard injection machines with only minor changes, neither requiring major additional investment nor adding complexity at the converter.
