INVISTA has set the goal of sustaining a world-class level of performance and we are looking for a Polymer Scientist with a high motivation and ambitious drive, who works with passion, displays humility and is highly respectful of others to join our Intermediates R&D team.
Focus Area
Development of novel nylon polymers and co-polymers for use as thermoplastic matrices in engineering compound formulations. Targeted end uses will be principally in load bearing applications in the automotive and E&E sectors, although other demanding end uses in other markets are not excluded.
Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead new nylon product development programs for targeted end uses with defined performance characteristics
  • Articulate the value proposition associated with managed new product development initiatives
  • Periodically report back to business and R&D leadership on the progress and forward plans for managed projects
  • Work with the INVISTA commercial organization, target customers and end users to define product performance requirements and carry out trials in partner and/or customer faculties to validate product performance
  • Work with the INVISTA manufacturing organization to carry out internal commercial scale trials and to develop the capability to produce newly developed products at commercial scale
  • Coordinate with the INVISTA legal capability to develop IP strategies for managed programs
  • Link effectively with other INVISTA and Koch Industries R&D & techno-commercial colleagues across the globe to maximize cross learning opportunities
  • Maintain an awareness of relevant technology & market development and trends and seek to use suck knowledge to drive improvement initiatives 
Essential Experience, Skills & Background
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience developing and commercializing thermoplastic based compounds for load bearing applications
  • PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or Engineering (for non-chemists, sufficient chemistry knowledge to work effectively with expert polymer chemists)
  • A high energy & pro-active approach to work
  • Experience of engaging with partners and end users in the specification, trialling and commercialization of new products 
Desired Experience, Skills & Background
  • Exposure to the automotive and /or E&E development environment would be an advantage
  • Experience of working in Asia or with Asia based organizations would also be advantageous
