Construction on the adiponitrile (ADN) retrofit project at INVISTA’s site in Victoria, Texas, continues on schedule with one of the modified process areas nearing completion. We anticipate all pre-turnaround construction will be completed later this year, and the final tie-ins are to be installed during a regularly scheduled maintenance outage in early 2021 with additional ADN coming online at that time.
ADN is a key ingredient for nylon 6,6 fibers and plastics used in industries like automotive production, electronics and electrical connectors. Applications also include automotive airbag fiber, specialty apparel fibers and high-performance coatings.
The construction team, following COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC and local authorities, is employing innovative ways to help maintain the health and safety of the project workforce during the pandemic.
