INVISTA, local fire department discuss importance of manufacturing safety

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Oct. 16, 2017 - INVISTA’s Precision Concepts manufacturing facility in Martinsville recently welcomed the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD) for a tour to review INVISTA’s fire support, prevention and notification systems.

This review isn’t new for either party—for several years, INVISTA Martinsville and the RVFD have been committed to collaborating on manufacturing safety.

"In the event of an emergency at our site, first responders like the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department would likely be first on the scene," said Tim Coble, site manager. "Our ongoing relationship with the RVFD is critical to INVISTA’s long-term commitment to safety."

Coble added, "These firefighters volunteer their time day in and day out to serve and protect this community. We appreciate their efforts to equip themselves with best knowledge and prepare in the event of an emergency."

While at the site, the RVFD also participated in INVISTA’s compliance plan self-assessment. Providing site tours for first responders can help improve response times in the event of an actual emergency and keep personnel safe.

In addition, INVISTA presented Fire Chief Cotton Trent with a donation to support ongoing operations at the fire department.

"Touring the INVISTA site and developing an understanding of its fire support system allows us to more effectively respond in the event of an emergency," said Chief Trent. "We appreciate INVISTA’s commitment to safety and ongoing support of our organization."

In Martinsville, INVISTA Precision Concepts manufactures micron-tolerance machined parts for the textile, aerospace and medical industries. The site’s specialized equipment can machine a range of performance alloys including aluminum, titanium, gold and platinum.
